22nd Century Group has confirmed the first international shipments of very low nicotine (VLN) cigarettes to South Korea and is expecting to see significant benefits from the sales of its menthol line of VLN cigarettes as it plans an expansion of sales and distribution in the US beyond its initial trial in Chicago, Illinois.
The company announced the first shipments as part of its results from the first quarter of 2022. It said it anticipated even bigger things from its menthol VLN cigarette line based on the proposed menthol cigarette ban by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – which does not currently include 22nd Century’s menthol VLN cigarette – and initial sales data from the 150 Circle K convenience stores involved in its Chicago trial.
