Hong Kong cracks down on heated tobacco with import and sales ban

Hong Kong’s lawmakers have passed a bill banning the import and sale of tobacco-alternative products, including heated tobacco, a move considered by officials as an important step in local tobacco control policies.

Offenders will face a fine of up to HKD 50,000 ($6,430) and six months’ prison. The Hong Kong government said the Department of Health and Customs would make every effort to prepare for relevant law enforcement work.
