The Colombian government appears to have given up on plans to raise levies on heated tobacco and e-cigarette products, to the dismay of some of its own supporters.
As reported in the Tamarind Intelligence Policy Radar, president Gustavo Petro’s administration had intended to impose an excise duty on heat-not-burn (HnB) and vaping products. But no such policy was included in the tax reforms submitted to Congress earlier this month and approved this week by the economic committees of both the Senate and House of Representatives.
