Use of tobacco products drops among US high school students, survey reveals

The use of tobacco and nicotine products declined among US high school students between 2022 and 2023, a national survey has revealed.

Among student respondents in 2023, 12.6% reported tobacco and nicotine use – including the use of nicotine pouches and vaping products. This is down from 16.5% the previous year, according to the US National Youth Tobacco Survey, conducted annually by researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
