For years the Ministry of Health has been working with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ban the use and import of heated tobacco into Vietnam. Authorities normally do not differentiate HTPs from e-cigarettes and refer to both as in a broader category of “new generation tobacco products”.
On 30th November 2024, the National Assembly passed resolution 173/2024/QH15 officially banning HTPs, and requesting the government to take necessary measures implementing the ban.
