Bangladesh: oral tobacco and nicotine pouch regulation, August 2024

Oral tobacco is regulated in Bangladesh by Act 11/2005 on Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Tobacco Control Act), which regulates it under the category of tobacco products.

According to the Tobacco Control Act, a tobacco product is defined as “any product made from tobacco, tobacco leaves, or its extract which can be sucked or chewed, or inhaled through smoking, and includes bidi, cigarette, cheroot, granulated, plug cuts, snuff, chewing tobacco, cigar and mixtures used in pipe”.
