China brings oral nicotine products under strict state tobacco monopoly

China has brought nicotine pouches as well as all other oral nicotine and tobacco products under its state monopoly for commercial as opposed to health reasons.

The country’s regulators have decreed that all oral nicotine products – including pouches, strips, snus, chewing tobacco and other similar items – are now to be regulated as traditional tobacco products. Previously, they had been in a grey area that meant private manufacturers and brands could make and sell them.
