COP9 parties agree on ‘need to regulate’ heated tobacco products

COP9, which was held online instead of the planned physical summit in Geneva, did deeply discuss the future and challenges of tobacco control, but Parties showed the will to work on further evidence and make novel tobacco products a central role of discussion at COP10 in 2023. Some discussion did take place by “Committee A” on how to to tackle novel tobacco products and the implementation of Articles 9 and 10 of the WHO FCTC (World Health Organisation Framework Convention on Tobacco Control)
