Egypt’s former tobacco monopoly teams up with PMI for a future in alternatives

Tobacco alternatives are beginning to flourish in Egypt and heated tobacco as well as vaping products are expected to become more important as Egyptian manufacturers start to get involved.

One company has been granted a licence to manufacture heated tobacco products, while authorities have also granted eight licences to import and produce e-liquids. Eastern Company, a former holder of a monopoly for the production of tobacco products in Egypt and still the country’s top cigarette-manufacturer, plans to be involved in both.
