EU Commission reveals its preferences for higher taxes on tobacco products

Taxes on tobacco will increase across Europe and be extended to novel products, according to a draft of the impact assessment for the new Tobacco Excise Directive (TED) which the European Commission is expected to present in December for debate by the European Council and Parliament.

The document outlines several options for the taxation of novel and traditional tobacco products, with the Commission suggesting preferred options
