Germany’s incoming coalition signals lenient approach to novel tobacco laws

In Germany, negotiations are advancing fast to establish a coalition between the centre-right Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CDU/CSU), which won the elections in February, and the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD), which finished third.

A CDU/CSU-led government in Germany is expected to take a more lenient stance on novel tobacco products than the previous SPD-led administration.
