Lack of solid science stokes fears and doubts over safety of nicotine pouches

While nicotine pouches are growing in popularity fast, the state of science on their safety remains threadbare.

Officials in a number of jurisdictions have placed limitations or bans on pouches and there have been reports of them causing burns or mouth ulcers. But clinical studies are limited and most conclusions appear to be drawn from work in related areas, such as studies on nicotine in isolation or the use of oral tobacco.
