Regulatory report: EU waste-related marking requirements for heated tobacco products

The EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUP Directive) addresses the impact of plastics on the environment and introduces a set of requirements for different producers, including tobacco companies. The SUP transposition deadline is set for 3rd July 2021. So far only Greece has transposed it into the country’s regulatory framework.

Two earlier directives relating to waste and electrical equipment, and batteries and accumulators have also been in force since 2014 and 2008, respectively, and have both been transposed by all member states.

This report provides an overview of the SUP Directive, along with relevant legislation from various member states.
