South Africa playing catch-up with WHO FCTC as Tobacco Control Bill edges closer

South African legislators must use the upcoming Tobacco Control Bill to bring the country’s regulations into line with World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) guidelines, experts say.

The bill was tabled in Parliament in December under its full title, Tobacco Products and Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems Control Bill, and is now to be discussed and potentially amended by the Portfolio Committee.
