In 2023, Taiwan implemented a comprehensive ban on herbal heated products, heated tobacco products (HTPs) and their devices or components.
The Ministry of Finance has confirmed that HTPs are classified as belonging to the “other tobacco products” category for tobacco tax purposes, which may indicate they could eventually pass the authority’s health risk asessment review. However, none have passed it yet.
