The recent announcement in the UK to ban disposable e-cigarettes has placed these products under the spotlight once again, although the debate over the need to ban disposable e-cigarettes has been ongoing for a few years.
This report examines the ongoing debate around possible bans on disposable e-cigarettes in Europe. Additionally, and through a case study of the French bill banning e-cigarettes, the report analyses whether or not such a bill can be blocked by the European Commission (EC). Although the case study focuses on the French bill banning disposable e-cigarettes, the powers of the EC to block a national ban can be extended to any tobacco product category.
