22nd Century expands its VLN cigarettes in the US, and moves into South Korea

South Korea will be the first international market for 22nd Century Group’s modified-risk supported low-nicotine conventional cigarette VLN. The company will also be looking to rapidly expand its US distribution, with Chicago as its initial major metropolitan market, and will be looking at licensing opportunities to further its VLN product’s reach. The first shipment to South Korea is expected before the end of March, the company announced as part of its 2021 full-year results.

The company added that it would continue its launch process in additional markets in Asia and Europe with limited regulatory barriers while also leveraging VLN’s modified-risk tobacco product authorisation in the US toward seeking approval in other markets with higher regulatory barriers.
