Taxes on tobacco will increase across Europe in the coming years and may extend to alternative products including heated tobacco as well as e-cigarettes.
Across the EU, where the new Tobacco Excise Directive (TED) is expected to bring about tax increases and extend tax coverage to novel products, legislators in several countries are already introducing higher and new excise duties on both traditional and novel tobacco.
