Regulatory report: Israel – HnB, oral tobacco and nicotine pouches, June 2021

At the end of 2018, the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, amended the Law on Prohibition of Advertising and Restriction of Marketing of Tobacco and Smoking Products, which was signed into law on 8th January 2019. The provisions of the new law were organised to come into force in four stages; since June 2020 all of the law’s provisions are now applicable.

It notably brings restrictions for alternative tobacco products in Israel – including heated tobacco and e-cigarettes – in line with those for traditional cigarettes in the areas of public use, packaging and labelling, and advertising, and imposes additional restrictions on the product itself.
