Romania gets stricter with restrictions on HTPs, vapes amid election-intensive year

The Romanian parliament has adopted a bill that will subject nicotine pouches, heated tobacco products (HTPs) and herbal heated products to the same rules as those for vaping and other tobacco products.

The bill will introduce a minimum age of 18 as a prerequisite for purchases of any tobacco-containing products (including nicotine pouches and vaping devices), ban their sale through vending machines, and implement product usage bans for HTPs and vaping products in places such as education institutions. It will also set the maximum level of nicotine for pouches at 20 mg per pouch.
