UK smoking rates keep decreasing while vaping on the rise, national survey says

Less than 13% of adults smoke cigarettes in the UK, the lowest figure ever recorded by the country’s Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Based on the ONS’s latest statistical bulletin on adult smoking habits in the UK, 12.9% of the UK population aged 18 and above – or around 6.4m people – smoked cigarettes in 2022.
