UK will not modify tobacco regulations to legalise snus, health minister says

Although the Department of Health and Social Care has made no formal assessment of health outcomes caused by snus,  Conservative MP and health undersecretary Maggie Throup said that the government is exploring proposals to reduce smoking harms as part of the new tobacco control plan, but that this would likely not include any plans to introduce novel products, such as oral tobacco products, into the market.
